Lisa Kristine was born in San Francisco, California, on September 2, 1965. She developed an early interest in anthropology and photography, perusing the pages of National Geographic and other photojournals. She received her first Olympus camera at age 11. She began printing in black and white by age 13. Several years later, she was mentored in printing cibachrome.
Following graduation from the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in San Francisco, Kristine photographed for nearly five years in Europe and Asia. She began work for a photo agency after her return to the United States.
She had her first exhibition in 1988 and she continued to exhibit many times in the following years following. Her work has been exhibited and used in the Museum of Women, the Humanity Foundation, and the Asian Art Museum. When the State of the World Forum convened in San Francisco in 2000, Kristine presented her work to help inspire discussions on human rights, social change, and global security. Kristine's work was auctioned by Christie's New York and sponsored by the United Nations to benefit Kofi Annan's Ambassador's Ball.

Kristine runs galleries in Sonoma, California; Santa Fe, New Mexico; and Sausalito, California. She continually exhibits her work around the world, most recently at the Vancouver Peace Summit in September 2009.
